WHIM REVIEWS at the EdFringe 2024

Open to contributions at whim.

I pick books or decide to go to performances or films because of the title or poster. And I always have lovely stories that come from that.

And since I’m at the EdFringe this year, performing in The Crow, (The Princess) and the Scullery Maid with my theater company, Spin Cycle Theater, I am going to see some shows :D There are only 31 per square kilometer (apparently there are 3,700 performances happening this summer!)

Of course, I want to see them all, but it is not humanly possible.

So how does one choose? On a whim, of course. I’ll be in town every day, eavesdropping, staring at posters, flipping coins and going with the wind – and I’ll end up right where I’m supposed to be.

I already have my eye on a few performances that spoke to me online and I’m very excited to see them. And since I’m a glutton and I want to make the most of this amazing festival, I created this blog to keep here the very very short, clumsy but heartfelt reviews that I hope to write after every show! Which the performers can quote if they wish to.

If you’d like to contribute, I’d love to host (and credit!) your own whim reviews onto here – and you can be a newbie at theater reviews, like me; or a very highbrow critic; or between the two.

The only rule would be to send a very short review (let’s say max 150 words?) at raluca@whimreviews.com after your the event. Keep it short and heartfelt and I’ll publish it. Also make sure to include, at the end, your whim trail (an account of how you heard about it and what nudged you to attend).

Have a whimsical festival!

Raluca
